The developmental goalkeeper clinic is typically comprised of youth goalkeepers with limited training or experience as a goalkeeper. Clinic will revisit the technical needs of goalkeepers to sharpen technical skills and introduce elements of decision making through game situations. More detailed instruction in terms of handling, positioning, footwork, collapse and grass cutter saves, deflecting vs. catching, high balls, breakaways, and communication. It is very important for goalkeepers to train in age appropriate groups to build confidence and to ensure each goalkeepers safety.

This an amazing opportunity to train with some of the best college goalkeeper coaches in New England. Small coach to student ratio; typically 8 to 1.  Curriculum designed to challenge each keeper and the group as a whole.

St Marks is an exceptional training environment.  Well maintained grass fields that are much cooler than turf. Tons of goals to work in as well ! Worth the walk from the parking lot.

Monday - Thursday Day Clinic. Friday is a make up day in the event the fields are closed due to inclement weather.

Christian Benjamin - Central Connecticut State University Mens Soccer Assistant and Goalkeeper. 2007 NCAA Sweet 16 finalists. Connecticut ODP Evaluator, Goalkeeper Coach, and Staff Coach 2007 to present. Creator of the goalkeeper equipment and education resource, www.keeperstop.com. Featured clinician in the areas of goalkeeping and youth coaching for recreational, travel, high school, and premier clubs throughout New England and Tri - State area.  Licenses: USSF and NSCAA licensed.

Paul Armstrong - From age 14 to 18 trained and played with several youth professional academies in England such as Liverpool FC School Boys, Chester City FC, and Wigan Athletic FC.  Played Division 1 mens soccer for Central Connecticut State University.  In 2007 ranked top 5 in the US for shot stopping and goals against.  Holds FA level 1 coaching badge.  Graduated from CCSU with a degree in Exercise Science.  Staff coach at Star Goalkeeper Academy and 4 year youth director for Keeperstop.com.  

Staff will include other male and female college goalkeepers.  Additional staff will be named as the clinic draws close

 

Intermediate GK Training: 12 - 14 year olds and intermediate goalkeepers

The intermediate goalkeeper clinic is typically comprised of advanced 6,7, 8th grade goalkeepers, and freshman bound keepers that need technical reinforcement, or younger keepers that are technically sound and can train with older stronger players. Clinic will revisit the technical needs of goalkeepers to sharpen technical skills and introduce elements of decision making through game situations. More detailed instruction in terms of handling, positioning, footwork, collapse and grass cutter saves, deflecting vs. catching, high balls, breakaways, and communication.  Keeperstop.com reinforce the importance of accountability while in goal as well as teach important leadership skills. Advanced and High School Training: 14 years and above

Since this is a great opportunity to be trained and evaluated by Division 1 goalkeeper coaches this will be a group comprised of technically advanced male and female keepers fighting for a starting varsity spot or a very competitive JV goalkeeper.  College bound keepers are encouraged to attend as well. We will reinforce the technical needs of goalkeepers and sharpen decision making skills through complex game situations. More sophisticated and complex training situations will be created to elevate the more advanced keeper in terms of handling, angles and positioning, footwork, collapse and grass cutter saves, deflecting vs. catching, high balls, varying breakaway situations, and communication.  Very competitive and fast paced. Heavy emphasis on technical perfection, footwork, handling, and goalkeeper conditioning. Keeperstop.com teaches leadership and accountability throughout out every drill and training session.
